Any tummy tuck procedure does result in some scarring at the site of the incision, the severity of which depends on variable factors, including the size of the initial incision and the individual patient's age, skin type, and other factors. Tummy tuck scars are permanent, but they are located well below the natural waist, so they're not visible in most clothing.
In some cases, the size and shape of the belly button is also affected. In complete tummy tucks, the belly button is recreated surgically and should appear normal after healing. In partial tummy tucks, however, the belly button is sometimes stretched vertically due to the tightening of the skin below.
