Breast augmentation surgery, or augmentation mammaplasty, is a cosmetic procedure in which a breast surgeon inserts implants to enlarge and enhance a woman's breasts.
Breast augmentation is a frequent choice not just for simple enlargement, but to address sagging and loss of mass as a result of childbirth or aging, to correct unevenly sized or shaped breasts, or as a reconstructive procedure following mastectomy or other loss of breast tissue.
When considering breast augmentation, it is important to evaluate not only your individual circumstances and your ultimate goals, but the options available and the risks involved.
The breast augmentation procedure is highly customized to the patient, offering a number of available options for size and type of implant, implant placement, and type of incision, all of which allows each patient to select just the right breast enlargement solution to suit her unique situation.
Initially, you will decide on the type of incision used to insert the implant.
Then, you will choose how the implant should be placed -either submuscular or subglandular.
The final major choice is for type of breast implant to use. In most cases, this will be a type of saline filled implant, as silicone filled implants are only available in select circumstances.

The choices available are frequently interdependent-different types of implants may only be available with certain types of incision-so it is important that you understand the procedure and discuss it in detail with your plastic surgeon to create just the right solution.
"The most major procedure I have had done at VCPS was a bilateral breast augmentation, in July of 2007. The surgery was scheduled exactly in the time frame I requested.
